Born in Medan Indonesia, Mirjam already at a young age took te drawing and painting. Subsequently when finishing college in the Netherlands, she entered the Academy of Arts in Rotterdam where she majored in advertising and publicity. Following her studies she was active in the fashion industry and, among other activities also managed her own fashion boutiques. After her shops were sold, she happily spent more time painting, also the many years during the nineties she spent in Asia with her husband and daughter. Her paintings are relatively large in size, mostly oil on linen, and with the predominantly theme of female figures. The technique she applies is mostly painting knives in combination with brushes.
